What each verdict means
- BANNEDIG returns zero media for posts using this tag — your reach is killed instantly.
- RESTRICTEDAlgorithmic suppression — fewer impressions, sometimes 0. Avoid stacking 3+ in one post.
- ADULTAuto-flag for adult content. If your account isn't an adult niche, IG will demote the post hard.
- OKNot on any 2024-2026 suppression list. Still test reach with the IG insights tab.
How we built the list
- → Permanent-ban list: scraped from `instagram.com/explore/tags/<tag>/` returning empty media set across 30+ device fingerprints.
- → Restricted list: tags where last 100 posts have <0.3 % of normal niche engagement, observed weekly.
- → Adult-flag list: visible on IG only when the user has 18+ enabled — auto-demoted on default feeds.
- → Updated quarterly. Course buyers get the live JSON feed via /tools/api/hashtag-feed.
